How is it diagnosed?

Celiac disease diagnosis involves a combination of blood tests and an intestinal biopsy.
Blood tests can identify specific antibodies produced in response to gluten ingestion in individuals with celiac disease.
While the presence of these antibodies may indicate the condition, additional testing is required for confirmation.
An intestinal biopsy, performed during an upper endoscopy procedure, involves examining tissue samples from the small intestine to confirm the diagnosis.

Certains Test to diagnose celiac:
  • Ttg iGa
  • Ttg
  • Biopsy of small intestine
  • Endoscopy

The tTG-IgA test is the preferred celiac disease serologic test for most patients. Research suggests that the tTG-IgA test has a sensitivity of 78% to 100% and a specificity of 90% to 100%

There are a few blood tests as well to measure specific antibodies that are produced in response to gluten. If the antibody levels are high, a biopsy of the small intestine may be performed to confirm the diagnosis. It is important to note that a negative result does not rule out celiac disease, and further testing may be necessary.

Analysis of data has shown that when people are  finally diagnosed with celiac or gluten they have been suffering for an average of 10 years.
