Here’s a list of food items a celiac should eat:

 

  1. Fruits: Apples, bananas, oranges, berries, etc.
  2. Vegetables: Broccoli, carrots, spinach, peppers, etc.
  3. Meats and proteins: Chicken, turkey, beef, fish, eggs, tofu, legumes (beans, lentils), nuts, seeds, etc.
  4. Dairy and alternatives: Cheese, yoghurt (ensure they’re labelled gluten-free), almond milk, coconut milk, etc.
  5. Grains and starches: Quinoa, millet, buckwheat, etc.
  6. Gluten-free flours and products: Almond flour, coconut flour, chickpea flour, gluten-free pasta, bread, and cereals (check labels for gluten-free certification).
  7. Fats and oils: Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, butter (check for added ingredients that may contain gluten).
  8. Herbs, spices, and condiments: Salt, pepper, herbs, spices (check blends for added gluten/hidden gluten), mustard

 

Please make it a point to read labels and check for hidden gluten when buying any GF product. 

Try to buy these foods from online & offline stores that sell certified GF products to maintain authenticity. 

When you visit a restaurant make sure to instruct the chef to prepare GF food or carry GF Bread and other options with you in case of emergency.
